Week 5 - Symbol, Word and Image

In this week Ms Jinchi had taught about symbols, words and images. She told us that humans had use symbols to communicate via a message, a thought, an idea or a concept. In the civilization period, they used these symbols as a massage to communicate with others and they can be found in caves. In the modern-day, symbols had use wisely in our life and remained us some particular concepts. A symbol is a sign, shape or object that include information equivalent to one or more text to the viewers. Symbols can be breakdown into three types pictorial symbols, abstract symbols and arbitrary symbols

A pictorial symbol is formed by an actual image but simplified.

An abstract symbol can look like the objects they mean to show but with lesser detail.

An arbitrary symbol has no resemblance at all to the abjects or ideas shows to the viewers, therefore we need to learn the meaning of it to know the story behind the symbol. It is set up while the idea had formed. It is basically based on shapes or colours.
