PRACTICAL - PROJECT 2A: PART 1 // RECOLOURING BLACK & WHITE

Week 6 - Recolouring Black and White

In this week Mr Fauzi had demonstrated how to place colour by using the Paintbrush tool in Photoshop and how to blend the colour layers to make the black and white picture coloured with a natural feeling.

 Recolouring( Week 6- Mr Fauzi Tutorial Note_PowerPoint )[ 27 / 9/ 2021]

TUTORIAL

Picture Provided by Mr Martian
Progression
First, I added a new layer named "Face" for painting the old man's face. Next, I painted the face with skin colour by using the paintbrush tool that Mr Fauzi and Mr Martin had introduced during the demonstration in both the tutorial video and in class. After that, I blended the layer by using the overlay blending mode and decrease the opacity to 90% to make the colour naturally apply to the old man face.
Progression "Face"

After done with the face, I added a new layer and named it "Hair", same as before I used the paintbrush tool to paint the hair purple and blended the layer with the overlay blending mode and decrease the opacity to 50% to make the colour not too bright.
Progression "Hair"

Repeating the same steps as before, adding a new layer, changed layer name into "Eye", painted it with dark blue and light blue colour by the use of the paintbrush tool and make it blended as the overlay blending mode.
Progression "Eye"

As before, moving forward to the new layer named "Lip", painted with red. Besides using the overlay blending mode like before, in this layer, I tried blending with the soft-light blending mode and it surprisingly makes a natural apply with the picture.
Progression "Lip"

For the next layer, I named it "Clothes", I had coloured it with brown and blended it with the multiply blending mode.
Progression "Clothes"

For the "Background" layer I make a new mask layer by selecting all the named layers with the lasso tool and the quick selection tool that we had learnt previously. Then I applied it with the soft-light blending mode.
Progression "Background"

Besides that, I had tried on other different colours by making the hair brown and applied the layer with the multiply blending mode.

Experimental Progression "Hair"
